Hereford Railway Company was originally chartered as the Hereford Branch Railway Company in 1887 and was reorganized in 1888 as the Hereford Railway Company. The Upper Coos Railroad Company of New Hampshire began operating the road in 1889, and the rails were taken up by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company in 1927.
